About: Duncan, OK
Before the city of Duncan was founded, the Chisholm Trail passed east of the town and, eventually, Scotsman William Duncan brought his family to the area and started a trading post. This would inevitably become the city, and the township would expand its city limits during an economic surge during the second World War. The location is about 90 miles southwest of Oklahoma City. Lawmakers designated the area as Oklahoma's official "Crapemyrtle Capital," due to its abundance of crapemyrtyle trees.
