About: Nampa, ID
Nampa's name translates from Shoshone to either moccasin or footprint. Colonel William H. Dewey built the elegant Dewey Palace Hotel in 1902 for $250,000. The hotel survived the great fire of 1909, but was demolished in 1963 because there was no interest in investing to renovate the grand structure. Remnants from the hotel, such as the chandelier and the hotel safe, are at the Canyon County Historical Museum.
