Prescott Valley is located in central Arizona about 85 miles north of Phoenix. One of the city's landmarks, Glassford Hill, was once an active volcano over 10 million years ago. Before settlers arrived in the 1880s, the area of Prescott Valley was originally inhabited by the Patayan people. It was formerly called Lonesome Valley when it was first settled. Ranchers were drawn to the area with the intentions of raising beef to supply the miners and new settlers brought to Arizona by the mining boom of the 1880s.

    The Prescott Valley Tribune About 100 APS customers in Prescott Valley were without power Thursday night, a company spokesman said. Steven Godfrey, spokesman for APS, said customers without power were on East Sunflower Lane, East Wren Drive and East Lobo Way between East Spouse Drive and North Stage Way in Prescott Valley.

    Retired ASU lecturer Susan Larson has created inquiry-based mathematics video lessons through a program called the Professional Learning Library to help students meet the new Arizona College and Career Ready Standards. Larson, who designed the program for Humboldt Unified School District in Prescott Valley said the program is applicable to students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
