Prescott Valley is located in central Arizona about 85 miles north of Phoenix. One of the city's landmarks, Glassford Hill, was once an active volcano over 10 million years ago. Before settlers arrived in the 1880s, the area of Prescott Valley was originally inhabited by the Patayan people. It was formerly called Lonesome Valley when it was first settled. Ranchers were drawn to the area with the intentions of raising beef to supply the miners and new settlers brought to Arizona by the mining boom of the 1880s.

    Eight of the 30 WWII veterans who will be flying to Washington, D.C., to visit the WWII Memorial will ride the bus to Phoenix Nov. 4 to catch a flight. The Yavapai Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution have paid the veterans' expenses for the Honor Flight, hotel and meals, about $900 each.
